Independence & disclosure

Last updated: 16 September 2026.

This started as my own buying project

The Solar Minefield records my experience of comparing solar, battery, backup and EV-charging options for one UK home. The quotes, priorities and conclusions on the site are specific to that project and are not a universal recommendation.

No paid placements at launch

At launch, no installer, manufacturer or energy company has paid to appear on this site and the comparison table is not a paid ranking.

If monetisation is added later

I may eventually use advertising, affiliate links or referral arrangements to help cover the cost of running the site. If that happens, commercial relationships will be labelled clearly where they appear. A payment or referral arrangement will not silently change the factual description of a quote or turn the comparison into a hidden paid placement.

Not professional advice

This site is a homeowner's project diary and research aid. It is not electrical, engineering, legal, tax or financial advice. Solar output, battery performance, DNO requirements, tariffs and savings vary by property and over time.

Corrections

The aim is to keep factual details tied to the actual proposals and documents received. Where a supplier changes a product, price or policy, older snapshots should be read as dated examples rather than current offers.
